Lebanon rivals claim poll victory

Oh Lebanon my favorite small country in the Arab world , I wanted to speak about the first Lebanese annual anniversary of the grand Lebanon July 2006 war but I was busy in several stuff including celebrating our own revolution ,still I can't keep myself away from the Ciders country more than that.

I come back to Lebanon through the polls results that are causing lots of stir in the country .The poll was about who was going to be the successors of the two assassinated anti-Syrian Pro-government politicians late Pierre El-Gemayel and Walid Eido

The main battle was on who will take the place of late Pierre JR, in the area of Metn , the Christian populated area , where the battle was between Amin El-Gemayel, the father of Pierre JR and former president and Kamil El-Khoury Michel Aoun's candidate of the FPM

The battle was on the Christian chair on the Parliament ,El-Khoury won in the elections yesterday proving that the FPM is winning more hearts and minds in the Christian street in Lebanon

El-Khoury won by 48% not a big percent but still he won in a very competitive election , we can not forget who was in front of him and where was the battle.

Metn is very important Christian area , a Gameyals area plus you can not forget that Amin or to be honest the coalition of future movement and the phalanges were hoping that the tragic death of Pierre JR and the fact that his father is one who is running for his place in the Parliament that would give him more power in the elections , the Christians will be very angry and also will feel sympathy with the father and thus will vote for him in fact I thought that what would happen because it already did in Beirut after the murder of Twainy JR

yet the results were surprising , in fact it was even surprising to the former President El-Gemayel ,who as soon as the final results came made a statement accusing the opponents of changing the results "election fraud" in certain committee

Strange thing when he loses he speaks of "Election fraud" ,well I think if he wins , no one will expect the "election fraud" even his opponents, but when he loses then there is "election fraud" !!

Little advice for the Future Movement and the phalanges

  1. hands on.

I am sick of all those self-claimed "leaders" of lebanon... They're all nothing but a bunch of war lords/feudal/sect leaders, its sickening.

men saad el-hariri w shelto, la 3end nasrallah w shelto... shu hal 2araf haida.

its disappointing that the lebanese would choose these people to lead them in their first free election in 30 years... its very disappointing.

  3. Zeinobia, before commenting i would like to highlight the fact that with the presidential elections coming up soon, the main purpose of the elections that took place on the 5th of august was to prove who moranite christians support. And obviously u havent checked the statitics related to these elections that say that 53% of maronites have voted for amine gemayel. In other words the majority of maronite christians in Lebanon will not accept a president who is supported by Michel Aoun. And to remind u, hezbollah were also involved in the Lebanese war and are not that clean.
P.S: I am not trying to defend anyone cos i do not support any of the Lebanese Politicians.

  4. @anonymous, you are partially right but the battle is not in the Side of Gameyal and co. yet , in fact it is much worse than ever , it is very complicated
it won't be easy to have a president from the pro-government camp nor from the opposition either
still don't underestimate Aoun , because his rivals don't underestimate him at all
