Review : Jesus Lost tomb

I think I promised you that I would talk about The Jesus Lost tomb as soon as I put my hands on it and as a woman of her word I will insh Allah

I downloaded the controversial documentary through the P2P to be honest , an excellent DVD version from the original first airing on the discovery channel as I don't expect to be aired at all in Egypt "already the press and Egyptian orthodox Christians considered it another Israeli Zionist attempt to defame Jesus  and the middle east "well it will be also considered very critical not only for the Christians but the Muslims in the region as they have their share  on the theory that the film makers want to prove"

If I want to be logic to speak about it then I must take the same path they used to prove their point of view in the documentary  that is the scientific path  , the language of Science , the language of mind and modern time , they were very clever in using this path because they wanted to prove a very critical emphasis that can effect the faith of millions ,sorry billions through out the history , it can bring down a whole faith

Most of those who appeared in the documentary I have the feeling were Jews from Israel  starting from Simcha Jocabovici who is very active Jew documentary director and even if we found two or three Christians in the middle ,you will find them having a contemporary progressive theories about the Christ

The documentary starts since the beginning with dealing with assumptions and theories , very dangerous theories as historical facts that are 100% true in the point of view of its makers

These  assumption are:

  • Jesus is son of Joseph , "The virgin Mary in their point of view was not virgin , Jesus was not the miracle of God and his order to Mary, language of the science"
  • Jesus had other brothers including James  and Mathew
  • Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and had a child from her called  Jude "not a girl like in Da Vinci Code but a boy"

The fourth assumption which is the main idea of the documentary was that the ossuaries they found are for the Jesus family 100% ,prophet Jesus in particular no other Jesus

Now to the logic parts and again I won't go in the theological point of view "the Muslim one" because scientifically this documentary proves nothing

They made DNA tests for the remaining in the Ossuaries and they found that they were for one family , ok but this does not prove that this is the Jesus family , it could be any other Jewish family buried in the tomb ,this is not conclusive ,still the film makers were insisting that it was Jesus family and that the D.N.A would prove it ,with my all respect it proves only that this was a related family but not the Jesus simply how on earth they would know , let's have another example : The Queen Hatshepsut when they wanted to identify her mummy that used the DNA from the Mummy they got to be compared against a tooth they found in a box the possession of the late Queen in her tomb , with her name on the box , then they compared it with her father DNA as they got the mummy , so here we got something solid to compare with

They based their theory which is nothing more than assumption on the names engraved on the Ossuaries  and this is not conclusive evidence , they played the games of the probability that how many Jews back from century were called these names and the chances they would be one family using the old Jews records

They are playing the game of the assumptions , not solid proof , it is only based upon translation from Aramaic,Hebrew and Greek , trying to imagine things not in the matter of What if but it was and this is wrong in history , even that probability and number languages they used it was not based upon facts but assumptions ,merely assumptions and that's what provokes me because in the end it can the tomb of some Jewish family with similar names

yes probability using facts is reliable but we must put in our minds that even if we got 90% as a positive result when we are investigating something there is a  probability that we can have 10% as negative result , we accept this and this is based on facts not assumption like in our case

To read more about the documentary and the criticism about it in Wikipedia , there is more than what I wrote

  1. If there were lies behind Jesus’ story in the history of humanity either introduced by ‘Jesus’ family’ and/or his followers (the Apostles) as the documentary implies when should wonder
What was (were) the motive(s) behind all that? People lie to acquire wealth, fame, power or combination of the mix. What was in Jesus’ message to his followers and humanity as a whole that included any of these evil ingredients? Nothing as far as I (and humanity as a whole) can state. I never saw, read or heard about a person striving for any of such ingredients and at the same time teach forgiveness, love, and disdain for money and power as Jesus’ message includes.
