Vodafone Confesses

I think I talked about this point before somehow , concerning the mobile operators cooperation with the regime during the 6th April strike , exactly about the SMS before and after the 6th and 7th April of 2008.Well it seems that it was even before the strike in April, that was during the bread queues in March !!!

Vodafone's global head of content standards, Annie Mullins, told a Westminster eForum event on Wednesday that following food riots at Egyptian government-subsidised bakeries in March 2008, the Egyptian authorities demanded communications data from Vodafone to help identify rioters.

"We've had to hand over data on people in Egypt due to the food riots," said Mullins. "Regulation can be a Trojan horse."

1// There is the first confirmation that the mobile operators in Egypt at least one gave information to the regime regarding its clients.

I do not have doubt the other 2 operators also are involved.

2// It is interesting how Mullins described the bread queues as food riots , or did she mean the strike in April ?? Because in the strike it was reported that the regime forced the three mobile operators to reveal information about their clients

In the end of the day I am not surprised ,after all Vodafone designed and sponsors the e-government portal

Look I know that Vodafone will justify its actions that it will not stand against the government in this situation and in the future if this regime is changed “insh Allah”, Vodafone and other mobile operators will come and say that they did not have any other option except to obey the orders of the Mubarak regime.

3// The IT minister already confessed that the regime spies on the citizens through the internet.

The big brother is watching us through the internet and through mobile phones ,of course the landlines are under surveillance from a very long time.

Of course I will not speak about the violation of the laws because we live in emergency status !!
