Follow Up : H5N1 and H1N1 Update

The health ministry in Egypt today has just announced the 81st human infection case in the country.

17 months Ziyad Abdel Hamid Mohamed from Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate began to suffer the symptoms on the 15th of June 2009 ,he entered the hospital yesterday and was given Tamflu. He is currently stable thank God.

Meanwhile the H1N1 infection toll in Egypt has reached to 29 according to news reports , one of the latest cases discovered in Egypt is a native Egyptian working in one of the hotels in Cairo , he possibility got from some foreign tourist

The majority of H1N1 infected were and are coming from abroad, the fear is that the virus begin to transfer between Egyptians within the country.

From Plague in Libya ,to Avian and swine flu to some mysterious virus killing people in Alexandria I think Hatem El-Gably is the most unfortunate health minister in modern Egypt !!

  1. I believe we are the most unfortunate people in the world to have such an administration and such a regime. Hatem El-Gabaly is accumulating profits on both ends as a minister with more media exposure and as an investor in the most renowned hospital in Egypt. Don't waste your time sympathizing with him.

Most dangerous of all is that latest case of infection. More details about this hotel staffer is needed to know if he interacted with relatives and acquaintances outside the hotel. This might be the first case signaling an outbreak of infection. A point beyond it no more can we control the spread of the disease. Egypt might have just crossed into the 6th phase of the pandemic.

  2. @Al Mohanads, I agree that the danger lays in this hotel staffer,God know only how many Egyptians he interacted with before finding out his infection,it is a scary thing for sure but we should not live in too much fear
